Job summary

Blue Origin in Seattle, WA is seeking an experienced engineer to design and deliver multi-layer insulation blankets and associated thermal control systems for the New Glenn Upper Stage. You will collaborate with thermal analysts to convert heat flux and temperature requirements into manufacturable MLI designs with mass and performance margins.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering and 3+ years in aerospace thermal design, plus CAD experience (Creo) and familiarity

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• 3+ years in thermal or mechanical design of MLI or thermal control systems.
• Familiar with spacecraft thermal environments and insulation principles.
• Experience producing engineering drawings with CAD tools.
• Proficiency with Thermal Desktop or SINDA is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and iterate MLI blankets and thermal control systems.
• Translate heat flux and temperature requirements into manufacturable MLI designs.
• Define material selections, layer counts, seams, and attachments for MLI.
• Create detailed drawings, specs, and installation procedures with manufacturing.
• Support testing and inspections, including calorimeter and thermal vacuum tests.
