Job summary

DRT Aerospace in Sidney, OH is seeking an experienced Milling Machinist (Manual/CNC) to join our high-tech manufacturing team. You will set up, operate, and troubleshoot manual and CNC milling equipment producing complex, close-tolerance aerospace components.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 3+ years of experience operating manual CNC milling equipment.
• Ability to perform machine setups with minimal supervision.
• Blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation proficiency.
• Knowledge of tooling, workholding, feeds, speeds, and machining best practices.
• Experience using calipers, micrometers, indicators, bore gauges, and other precision measuring tools.
• Strong math, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining quality and productivity.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate manual milling machines and CNC machining centers.
• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, GD&T requirements, work instructions, and process documentation.
• Select and install tooling, fixtures, vises, workholding devices, and machine offsets.
• Perform complete machine setups and verify first-piece acceptance.
• Monitor machining operations and make process adjustments to maintain dimensional accuracy.
• Edit CNC programs and adjust offsets as required.
• Machine precision aerospace components to tight tolerances.
• Perform in-process and final inspections using precision measuring equipment.
• Troubleshoot tooling, machine, process, and quality issues.
• Complete production, quality, and inspection documentation.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and root cause investigations.
• Partner with Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing teams to improve performance and reduce scrap.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
• Other duties as assigned.
