Job summary

Star Catcher is seeking a Mechanical Technician in Jacksonville, FL to support the development of space-to-space power beaming spacecraft and the Star Catcher Network. You will design, assemble, test, and maintain mechanical systems and components used on spacecraft, satellites, and space technologies.

Ideal candidates have a bachelor's in mechanical/structural or aerospace engineering and at least four years of hands-on experience in aerospace manufacturing, assembly tooling, and machine shop

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, structural, or aerospace engineering.
  • At least four years of experience designing, analyzing and building mechanical structures in an aerospace manufacturing environment or equivalent.
  • Experience with assembly tooling and/or composites fabrication and assembly.
  • At least four years of machine shop experience.
  • At least four years of integration experience.
  • Experience working in a clean room environment.
  • Creative problem-solving skills with the ability to develop innovative solutions to advanced engineering challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Build and assemble components for spacecraft, including structural elements, propulsion systems, and other mechanical systems.
  • Develop and test prototypes of mechanical components and systems to verify performance and reliability.
  • Oversee manufacturing and assembly of mechanical components and manage parts procurement to meet design specs.
  • Perform second party verifications and visually inspect assemblies to drawings, engineering specs, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate mechanical systems into spacecraft and ensure material compatibility with specs.
  • Create detailed documentation for designs, analyses, and testing procedures (reports, test plans, and design docs).
  • Manage project timelines, resources, and budgets related to mechanical engineering tasks.
