Job summary

Aloft AeroArchitects in Indianapolis, IN seeks a Mechanical Engineer to design, develop, and certify mechanical system components for aircraft projects, supporting FAA certification and hangar operations.

You will join a collaborative team, perform analyses and trade studies, and prepare Engineering Repair Drawings while aligning with 14 CFR Part 23/25/27/29 requirements; travel occasionally may be required. Strong documentation and CATIA/SolidWorks experience are advantageous.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from a four-year college or university; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3 to 8 years practical work experience in a directly related job role.
  • Working knowledge of machine shop fabrication techniques (milling, turning, sheet metal, welding).
  • Working knowledge of design for manufacture and assembly techniques.
  • Working knowledge of design tolerance analysis.
  • At minimum, entry level working knowledge of AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor and CATIA.
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be detail oriented with the ability to multi-task.
  • Ability and willingness to work extended hours.
  • Effective computer skills; Microsoft Office Software and other company and discipline specific software applications.

Responsibilities

  • Research, develop, analyze, design, and test company products using engineering principles.
  • Analyze and verify product design and performance for adequacy with regulatory requirements.
  • Apply knowledge of mechanical operating system design and materials to create system designs.
  • Prepare engineering drawings, data sets, and specifications for production teams.
  • Interface with project teams to implement engineering solutions and maintain schedules.
  • Document actions and maintain timekeeping records.
  • Coordinate engineering drawing revisions to support hangar production.
  • Complete initial or recurrent training as required.
