Job summary

Howmet Aerospace Inc. in Manchester, CT seeks a Manufacturing Engineer to support and improve metal forming processes, tube bending, and related manufacturing disciplines.

The role offers growth in drafting, modeling, 3D printing, inspection methods, and process improvement within a collaborative engineering team. Responsibilities include designing fixtures, updating drawings, training operators, RCCA analysis, and coordinating with customers and vendors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, metallurgy or materials science preferred.
• 3+ years of process/manufacturing engineering experience in a metal forming manufacturing environment preferred.
• Strong tool design experience required.
• Aerospace industry experience or exposure preferred.
• Working knowledge of manufacturing methods, concepts, processes, and systems.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to program and operate CNC machines (mill, lathe, EDM) preferred.
• Familiarity with ISO 9000 or AS9100 quality standards preferred.
• Working knowledge of CAD software (SolidWorks/NX) preferred.
• Familiarity with ERP systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support daily operations and troubleshoot production issues.
• Evaluate and improve existing manufacturing processes and products.
• Design and modify fixtures, tooling, and gauging.
• Produce, update, and review engineering drawings and op sheets.
• Document key processes and train operators to standardized work.
• Disposition nonconforming material and perform RCCA.
• Research and develop new processes per customer specifications.
• Recommend and implement capital expenditures and equipment upgrades.
• Perform contract review and risk analysis.
• Review customer drawings and incorporate requirements into manufacturing processes.
• Participate in PPAP, PFMEA, and flow-downs.
• Develop Bill of Materials and Bills of Operations for new product.
• Interact with customers, operators, sales reps and vendors.
• Analyze data to determine feasibility and compliance with specifications.
• Reduce waste and increase capacity through continuous improvement tools.
