Job summary

Relativity Space, Inc. is seeking an engineer to own the application of Paint and Thermal Protection System materials for the Terran R launch vehicle.

You will lay out the build flow to scale production and support shop-floor teams to resolve issues while interfacing with Engineering and Supply Chain. The role involves coordinating with Build Reliability and external partners to advance manufacturing technology and ensure safety as production scales.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in aeronautical, mechanical engineering, or other engineering discipline with 1–2 years progressive related work experience.
• 3D & 2D design/drafting experience per ASME Y14.5M (NX preferred).
• Excellent interpersonal skills to interface with engineering and manufacturing groups for manufacturability input.
• Experience with at least 2 of the following processes: adhesive bonding, coatings, machining, mechanical fastening, composites, trimming/drilling, tool design.
• Ability to perform trade studies using first principles and engineering fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Own the application of Paint and Thermal Protection System materials from design release through installation on the Terran R launch vehicle.
• Layout the build flow to ensure efficient, high-quality, scalable production.
• Support shop floor and production personnel with issue resolution and upstream feedback.
• Monitor large-scale part movements and ensure safety with clear direction.
• Develop strong relationships with Engineering, Build Reliability, Supply Chain, and external partners.
