Job summary

Textron Systems in Maryland is hiring a Manufacturing Engineer II to support development and improvement of manufacturing processes for fabrication and assembly of detail parts and end-items. You will work with production teams to troubleshoot issues and help create work instructions, routings, and tooling concepts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Aerospace Engineering or related field.
• 2–5 years of experience in manufacturing operations, preferably aerospace/defense.
• Knowledge of basic manufacturing processes: electro‑mechanical assembly, cable/harness, precision machining.
• Experience with CAD tools such as NX, CREO or SolidWorks; ability to read drawings.
• Familiarity with Lean, root‑cause analysis, and problem‑solving methodologies.
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems such as Oracle or similar.
• Effective communication and collaboration across functions.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office tools.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. DoD security clearance; U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Support development and improvement of manufacturing processes, procedures, and layouts for fabrication and assembly of parts and products.
• Work with production teams to troubleshoot build issues and support day‑to‑day operations.
• Assist with creation and updates of work instructions, standard work, and basic tooling concepts.
• Participate in design reviews to provide basic DFM input and ensure producibility of changes.
• Support documentation updates, routing creation, and maintenance of configuration‑controlled manufacturing packages.
• Contribute to root‑cause investigations and corrective actions for routine production issues.
• Review drawings, specifications, procedures, and schematics to identify manufacturing requirements.
• Assist with Manufacturing Engineering tasks during IPT meetings or cross‑functional engagements.
• Conduct time studies and workflow observations to improve quality, efficiency, or cost.
• Evaluate new equipment, tools, or technologies and provide recommendations to senior engineers.
