Job summary

CMI Group Aerospace & Defense seeks a Manufacturing Engineer to plan, develop, and improve aerospace and precision-machined processes. Collaborating with CNC programmers, quality, and design engineering, you’ll translate product designs into efficient, repeatable processes applying Lean, Six Sigma, and ISO methodologies to meet cost, quality, and delivery targets.

You will develop process routes and drawings, design fixtures, and troubleshoot production issues to maintain high yield and quality

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years related manufacturing engineering experience.
• Hands-on 3D CAD experience required.
• Experience creating comprehensive process routers and manufacturing drawings.
• Familiarity with CNC machining equipment (lathes, mills, multi-axis).
• Familiarity with heat treat, nitride, anodize, plating.
• Ability to interpret blueprints and associated technical specifications.
• Ability to work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
• Strong technical writing for procedures and instructions.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills.
• Regular, consistent attendance is required.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct, and coordinate manufacturing processes in an aerospace environment.
• Develop detailed manufacturing process plans for new products.
• Improve process plans to increase yield and reduce cost.
• Develop work instructions and SOPs.
• Design work-holding fixtures for machining, welding, and assembly operations.
• Troubleshoot issues to minimize downtime.
• Maintain high product quality and manufacturing yield.
• Identify opportunities to reduce costs and increase productivity.
• Collaborate with CNC programmers and engineers on DFM, cost, test, and assembly considerations.
• Analyze and resolve manufacturing problems using engineering judgment.
• Develop engineering models, assemblies, and drawings in SOLIDWORKS from concepts.
• Apply GD&T per ASME Y14.5 to drawings.
• Integrate Six Sigma, Lean, and ISO into daily improvement.

Job Summary

The Manufacturing Engineer plans,develops, and improves manufacturing processes for aerospace andprecision-machined components. This role works cross-functionally with CNCProgrammers, Quality, and Design Engineering to translate product designs intoefficient, repeatable manufacturing processes that meet cost, quality, anddelivery targets, applying Lean, Six Sigma, and ISO methodologies throughout.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, direct,and coordinate manufacturing processes within an industrial/aerospacemanufacturing environment.
• Developdetailed manufacturing process plans for new products.
• Improvemanufacturing process plans for existing products to increase yield and reducecost.
• Develop workinstructions, standard operating procedures, and process workflows.
• Designwork-holding fixtures for machining, welding, and assembly operations.
• Troubleshootmanufacturing issues with demonstrated urgency to minimize production downtime.
• Maintain highproduct quality and manufacturing yield across assigned production lines.
• Identifyopportunities to reduce costs and increase productivity.
• Partner withCNC Programmers and other engineers on Design for Manufacturability (DFM),including design for cost, design for test, and design for assembly.
• Analyze andresolve straightforward manufacturing problems using technical experience,engineering judgment, and established precedent.
• Develop andprepare engineering models, assemblies, and detail drawings in SOLIDWORKS frompreliminary concepts, sketches, and specification sheets.
• ApplyGeometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5 to all createddrawings.
• Integrate SixSigma, Lean Manufacturing, and ISO methodology into daily process improvementwork.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor'sdegree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering, or equivalentrelevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prioraerospace manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
• SOLIDWORKSexperience strongly preferred.
• Experienceworking with or as a supplier to large aerospace manufacturers.
• LeanManufacturing certification (e.g., Green Belt) or equivalent experience.
• Priorcustomer-facing experience with Honeywell, Woodward, Raytheon, or NorthropGrumman.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

• Work isperformed in both an office setting and an active manufacturing/shop floorenvironment.
• Exposure tomachine shop conditions, including noise, moving equipment, and industrialmaterials; appropriate PPE required in designated areas.
• Ability tostand, walk, bend, and move throughout the production floor for extendedperiods.
• Occasionallifting of up to 15 lbs.
