Sonaca North America is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support the Development Projects Team during startup phases of new programs. You will work to capture requirements, prepare development plans, and track performance while coordinating with Fabrication, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Quality teams.

The role emphasizes strong communication, problem-solving, and collaboration across departments to ensure successful program launches and adherence to Sonaca North America values.

  • Assist project managers in startup plans and coordination for new programs.
  • Act as interface between Manufacturing Engineering, Project Management and Plant Operations.
  • Prepare schedules with milestones and first article flow.
  • Coordinate and resolve engineering issues affecting production and assembly.
  • Document issues and communicate resolutions to related departments.
  • Facilitate Teamcenter data organization to support programs.

This position provides support to the Development Projects Team during the startup phase of critical new projects. The Manufacturing Engineer will evaluate project needs, prepare, and coordinate development plans, and track and evaluate project performance. The Manufacturing Engineer will utilize strong communication skills to accurately convey program requirements and coordinate the resolution of key issues to the Fabrication Plants, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Quality Departments. While performing all duties and responsibilities, the Engineer will at all times, model Sonaca North America values and principles and act in a manner consistent with the Sonaca North America Code of Business Conduct and Ethics.ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIESAssist Project Managers in the development of project start up plans, creation of conceptual planning, and coordination of customer approvals necessary to launch new programsFunction as a key interface between Manufacturing Engineering, Project Management and Plant Operations to ensure complete understanding of requirements, goals, and constraintsPrepare project schedules detailing critical milestones, first article flow and transition to productionCoordinate and resolve engineering issues related to production and assembly operationsDocument issues and communicate to related departmentsDevelop and implement plans for resolutionFollow up to ensure that issues have been successfully resolvedAssist Development Projects Team in the preparation of presentation materials for project reviewsGather, organize, and analyze data related to status and performance on the projectEvaluate potential problems and provide risk assessmentDocument corrective actions and ensure understanding of all team membersFacilitate the use of the Teamcenter system on a given program to organize and manage technical data in support of project needsSupport/lead offsite meetings at supplier or Sonaca North America Aerostructures locations to coordinate project requirements and resolve of critical issuesParticipate in various process improvement projectsMay facilitate or lead teamsIn order to comply with U.S. government regulations applicable to this position, all applicants must be either a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S. as defined in 8 U.S.C. 1101(a)(20), or a “protected individual” as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).Travel RequiredYes, 20% of the timeEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCESBachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, experience in project management in the manufacturing industry or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. A history of applying engineering techniques and methods along with a basic understand of lean manufacturing techniques is preferred.Excellent PC skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office, CATIA and Visio. Experience with TeamCenter Suite is a plus.Ability to work in a dynamic environment with multiple priorities and shifting time requirements. Must be able to promote a participative, team-oriented environment, working with customers (both internal and external), all employees, vendors, and others in a professional and respectful manner.Excellent communication skills and be able to communicate clearly and professionally, both orally and in writing.Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical materials, and governmental regulations.
