Job summary

Electro-Methods, Inc. in South Windsor, CT seeks a Manual Bullard Operator to set up and run Bullard-style manual vertical turret lathes to machine aerospace components to close tolerances.

You will plan setups, load and secure parts, select tooling, and establish speeds and feeds while ensuring safety and quality. Candidates should have 3+ years of VTL experience, blueprints with GD&T, and proficiency with precision measuring tools.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• 3+ years setting up and operating manual vertical turret lathes (Bullard preferred).
• Experience with turret and side-head tooling, large boring bars, feeds and speed controls.
• Ability to read blueprints and apply GD&T, tolerances, surface finish and inspection criteria.
• Working knowledge of shop math: decimals, fractions, geometry, trig.
• Proficiency with precision measuring equipment for large-diameter components.
• Ability to qualify for and follow crane, hoist, rigging, and material handling requirements.
• Ability to document work accurately and work independently with limited supervision.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate manual Bullard VTLs for facing, turning, boring, drilling, reaming, and related operations on production parts.
• Interpret and follow work instructions and inspection sheets to machine and inspect parts.
• Use table jaws, fixtures, clamps, stops, turret tooling, boring bars, inserts, and cutting tools.
• Center, level, clamp workpieces and verify clearance and swing envelope before starting the machine.
• Machine aerospace alloys and materials including nickel-based superalloys, titanium and stainless steels.
• Measure with outside/inside micrometers, bore gauges, dial indicators, height gauges and other precision tools.
• Perform first-piece and in-process inspections; document datums, runout and surface finishes.
• Maintain traceability of heat-lots and serial numbers; keep inspection and production records.
