Job summary

Astrion is seeking an Associate Senior Chemist to support the LASSO II contract at Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The role entails supervising 1st and 2nd shift laboratory operations, coordinating chemists and technicians, and ensuring high standards of safety and quality compliance in aerospace testing environments.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s in Chemistry (advanced degree preferred) with six or more years in lab operations, including supervisory experience, and solid experience

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry; advanced degree in Analytical Chemistry desired.
  • Six or more years of experience in laboratory operations, with at least two in supervision.
  • Strong knowledge of analytical instruments (GC, IR, UV, AAS) and solvents.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise 1st/2nd shift chemical analyses by staff.
  • Assign chemists, technicians and clerical staff.
  • Assist in planning analytical procedures for complex analyses.
  • Review laboratory methods for accuracy and validity.
  • Prepare reports and procedures; support NASA and management.
  • Oversee changes to chemical analysis manual and approve for issue.
  • Substitute for Senior Chemist to maintain operations.
  • Participate in safety programs and audits.
