Job summary

Smith Brothers Tool Company is seeking an experienced toolmaker to translate customer prints into high-precision fixtures. You will align tooling with reference points using precision measuring equipment and perform repairs to restore performance and accuracy.

You will produce fabrication sketches for assemblies and operate lathes, Bridgeport mills, and grinders as needed to meet tight specifications.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on precision jig/fixture building.
• Advanced blueprint reading with GD&T plus 3D CAD model interpretation.
• Proficiency using precision measurement and hand metrology tools.
• Manual machining experience (mills, lathes, grinders) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Build to customer prints, specs, and rigorous quality requirements.
• Establish and coordinate tooling holes and reference points using straightedges and precision measuring equipment.
• Repair and rework existing tools to restore performance and accuracy.
• Produce fabrication sketches to clarify assemblies and steps.
• Run machine tools as needed: lathes, Bridgeport mills, and grinders.
