Job summary

Cal Poly's Aerospace Engineering Department invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor position beginning August 2027. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and master's courses, develop curriculum, pursue externally funded research, supervise undergraduate students, and contribute to department, college, and university service.

Excellence in teaching, communication, and teamwork is required; collaboration across disciplines is highly valued.

Qualifications

• Earned doctorate in Aerospace Engineering or closely related field; ABD considered with evidence of degree award before start of appointment.
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching, effective communication, and interpersonal skills; ability to develop externally funded, applied research with undergrad/graduate students.
• Excellent written and oral English communication; ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and in hands-on, student-centered learning environments.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and master's level courses and contribute to curriculum development.
• Pursue research in area of expertise and build an externally funded program involving undergraduates.
• Provide service to the department, college, university, and community, including interdisciplinary collaboration.
