Job summary

RPMGlobal seeks a qualified engineer to evaluate aircraft store compatibility for USAF missions. You will perform aerodynamic analyses and design tests, applying modeling, simulation, and software scripting to address complex configurations.

Responsibilities include documenting certification artifacts and collaborating in a dynamic team, with travel as needed. A Bachelor’s in an aerospace-related field and the ability to obtain a Secret clearance are required.

Qualifications

  • US citizenship required due to sensitivity of customer requirements.
  • Bachelor's degree in Aeronautical, Aerospace, or Mechanical Engineering (Aerospace specialty).
  • Ability to obtain a Secret security clearance within 6–9 months.
  • Strong knowledge of aerodynamics and fluid mechanics.
  • Experience applying modern control theory concepts.
  • Experience with Linux/Unix environments and scripting languages (Python, Perl).
  • MATLAB or similar engineering software proficiency.
  • Excellent technical writing and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical abilities.
  • Good organizational skills and ability to work independently or in a team.
  • Ability to travel via commercial airlines as required.

Job description

This position will focus on the evaluation of aircraft compatibility pertaining to internal and external stores necessary to conduct a wide range of USAF operational and test missions.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Perform sophisticated store separation aerodynamic analytical efforts.
  • Design/direct ground tests, wind tunnel tests, and flight tests.
  • Apply modeling and simulation tools to address complex, challenging, and unprecedented aerodynamic configurations.
  • Devise engineering software scripts and programs for specific program engineering purposes: software development could be included in the task portfolio.
  • Professionally document certification artifacts, engineering documentation (e.g. test plans, analysis results), and formal presentations.
  • Works well as a member of a discipline team in a dynamic multi-tasking environment.
Required Skills:
  • Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • A Bachelors degree in Aeronautical, Aerospace, or Mechanical Engineering (with Aerospace specialty).
  • Ability to obtain a Secret security clearance within 6-9 months.
  • Knowledge of aerodynamics and fluid mechanics.
  • Experience in modern control theory applications.
  • Experience operating in LINUX/UNIX environments using scripting languages (python, PERL, etc.).
  • Experience using MatLab or similar engineering software.
  • Excellent technical writing and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as with a team.
  • Ability to travel using commercial airlines is required to support professional obligations.
Desired Skills:
  • Master’s degree in Aeronautical, Aerospace, or Mechanical (with Aerospace specialty) Engineering.
  • General engineering experience, including familiarity with modeling & simulation, is desired to meet the basic position requirements.
  • Knowledge of aircraft, air-launched weapons, and aircraft suspension equipment.
  • Support the aircraft/store certification process.
