Job summary

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is seeking an experienced aerospace flight dynamics engineer to lead development of flight control systems and autopilots. You will model aircraft dynamics, analyze flight data, and support ground and flight tests within a federal government contracting environment.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, has 7+ years of relevant experience, and demonstrates strong documentation skills along with sound engineering processes. U.S.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering is required.
  • At least 7 years of experience in flight dynamics modeling and flight data analysis.
  • Excellent documentation and report writing skills are essential.
  • Knowledge of engineering practices such as requirement tracking, configuration control, and peer reviews.

Responsibilities
  • Be the engineering lead in support of flight control system development; aircraft modeling and simulation; analysis of aircraft flight dynamics; and ground and flight test support.
  • Design, develop, integrate, and test aircraft flight control systems and autopilots.
  • Develop, integrate, and validate models of aircraft flight dynamics and subsystems such as payloads, engines, transmissions, flight control components, and sensors.
  • Support lab, ground, and flight qualification testing of aircraft avionics, sensors, and flight control systems.
  • Mentor more junior engineers.
Qualifications
  • Active or the ability to obtain a SECRET security clearance after hiring (requires US Citizenship).
  • U.S. Citizenship required for obtaining/holding a U.S. security clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering.
  • At least 7 years of experience, including development and refinement of flight dynamics models; work with flight test data to include flight test support and flight data analysis, and/or familiarity with aircraft performance, aerodynamic design, non-linear system identification, and flight control system design and analysis.
  • Excellent documentation and report writing skills are essential for this position.
  • Knowledge of sound engineering practices that may include such areas as requirement tracking, configuration control, technical communication, and/or the peer review process.
