Job summary

Karman Space & Defense is seeking a Design Engineer II to contribute to concept development, testing, and deployment of aerospace structures and mechanical systems. You will work across the full lifecycle from concept through manufacturing, guided by customer requirements and industry standards.

The role includes mentorship of junior engineers, collaboration with manufacturing, quality, and program teams, and participation in proposals and business development. A DoD security posture may apply.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
• 2–5 years of aerospace or defense experience.
• Solid understanding of engineering technologies and robust hardware design.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks.
• GD&T knowledge and experience with CAD/CAE tools.

Responsibilities

• Supports all aspects of mechanical design within the engineering group.
• Conceptualizes, designs, and develops structures, mechanisms, and systems that meet customer requirements and industry standards.
• Produces 2D layout drawings and 3D solid model concepts.
• Mentors junior engineers and collaborates with cross-functional teams.
• Supports manufacturing, QA, testing, and deployment from concept through delivery.
• Participates in proposal development and business development activities.
