Job summary

BETA Technologies is seeking a Materials and Processes Composites Engineer to lead composite development and manufacturing for the eVTOL program. The role focuses on qualifying materials, developing processes, and supporting production in the composites facilities and lab.

You will guide design teams, collaborate with suppliers, write test plans and reports, and coordinate material and process qualifications. Travel for supplier audits and manufacturing support is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Metallurgy, Materials or Aerospace Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years aerospace experience in composite materials; 10+ years preferred.
• Experience auditing suppliers and internal facilities.
• Strong knowledge of industry specifications for materials, processes, testing and quality.
• Experience writing specifications, test plans, overseeing testing and writing reports.
• Strong problem solving and outside-the-box thinking.
• Enjoys coaching and collaboration with stakeholders.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with internal & external customers.
• High energy, self-motivated, organized and detail-oriented.
• Experience in product development and certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Guide and support design teams in developing composite aircraft components.
• Collaborate with suppliers for materials, components and equipment.
• Develop new processes and test new materials.
• Work with manufacturing to optimize manufacturability and reduce cycle time.
• Assist quality with controls for materials, processes and training.
