Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Prior exposure to machining curriculum preferred.
• Familiarity with CNC setup and operation is a strong plus.
• Comfortable reading and interpreting engineering drawings or setup sheets.
• Solid mechanical aptitude and basic math skills.
• Physical lifting requirements: lift 50 pounds, push/pull 60 pounds, reach above shoulder.
• U.S. Citizenship status required.
• Ability to obtain U.S. Government Security Clearance, if needed.

Responsibilities

• Complete a 3-month pre-apprenticeship program focusing on safety, blueprint reading, basic machining on conventional lathes and mills, measurements and parts verification.
• Enter a CNC Machining apprenticeship program with on-the-job training and instructor-led courses through Oakland Community College.
• Apprenticeship training lasts 2 years, culminating in a permanent full-time off-shift role.
• Work under supervision of Manufacturing Team Leader/Mentor and progress through the training plan.
