Job summary

HDI Landing Gear in Strongsville, OH, seeks a Chemical Laboratory Technician - Surface Finishing to perform chemical and metallurgical testing supporting aerospace finishing processes. You will work on electro-plating, wastewater treatment, and adhesion testing, ensuring strict quality control for both commercial and military components.

The role requires a chemistry degree or equivalent experience with 2+ years in a chemical lab; surface finishing or metal processing is a plus.

Qualifications

• Degree in Chemistry or equivalent relevant work experience.
• Minimum 2+ years of chemical laboratory experience.
• Surface finishing or metal processing experience preferred.
• Knowledge of NADCAP and AS9100 is a bonus.
• RCRA training required on hire and annually thereafter.

Responsibilities

• Follow an analytical schedule, sample electro-plating and wastewater treatment tanks to ensure quality requirements.
• Perform metallurgical testing, titrations, and wet chemical techniques for process quality control.
• Perform adhesion testing to evaluate bonding.
• Operate and maintain analytical instrumentation (Atomic Absorption, UV-Vis).
• Document results into TrueChem software.
• Coordinate testing with outside suppliers and review results as needed.
• Perform chemical adjustments of process tanks with production activities.
• Coordinate with EH&S, Engineering, and operations regarding troubleshooting and continuous improvement.
• Periodically verify chemical inventory for adequate stock.
• Document accurately per protocols such as AS9100 and NADCAP.
