Job summary

BARNES in Connecticut seeks an experienced Machinist for the 1st shift to perform precision finishing on aircraft engine parts. You will read operation sheets and manuals, applying strong math and meticulous attention to detail to guide repairs.

Responsibilities include setting up fixtures, laying out abrasives, operating burr guns, and inspecting parts with micrometers, calipers and gauges to ensure conformance to repair instructions.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three years of experience in aerospace or manufacturing.
• Good mathematical skills.
• Ability to read operation sheets.

Responsibilities

• Perform burr, blend and polish on aircraft engine parts according to repair instructions.
• Work from operation sheets, engine manuals and standard practice manuals to perform duties called out in the repair process.
• Layout abrasives and air guns required for each part or operation; set up holding devices such as rotary and hydraulic tables if needed.
• Operate burr guns of different configurations to achieve dimensions per repair instructions; inspect own work using micrometers, calipers, verniers, GO-NOGO gauges/pins and visual aids.
