Job summary

Swarm Aero in Fayetteville, GA is building autonomous UAV swarms and the hardware to support them. We seek an engineer to design avionics enclosures and secondary structure, perform analyses, create mounts, and integrate devices into the airframe.

You will work with the mechanical team, develop models and drawings, and support flight tests and airworthiness documentation. Requirements include 3+ years in enclosure design for harsh environments, CAD expertise, and familiarity with DO160,

Qualifications

• 3+ years of enclosure design experience on aerospace, defense, UAS or harsh environments.
• Familiar with ASME 14.5 GD&T and design intent communication.
• Experience with aluminum, copper, polymers, composites or similar materials.
• Experience with CNC machining, laser cutting, waterjet, bending, stamping, or similar processes.
• Experience with coatings/sealants (paint, plating, etc.).
• PCB design or embedded electronics background is a plus.
• ITAR-related scripting exposure is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop avionics enclosures and secondary structure, including analysis and testing.
• Coordinate with mechanical to mount avionics devices to airframe.
• Define and implement mechanical design standards for avionics enclosures.
• Create mechanical models, drawings, and ICDs using CAD tools.
• Collaborate with suppliers to improve manufacturability, cost and lead-time.
• Support flight-test anomaly investigations and root-cause analysis for mechanical systems.
• Contribute to airworthiness documentation and flight authorization packages.
