Job summary

RTCA, a precision aerospace and defense manufacturer, is seeking an Assembly Technician I for its Sumner, WA site. This full-time, on-site role involves performing a range of production assembly tasks from drawings, using hand and power tools, and ensuring quality at each step.

Qualifications

  • Experience with assembly operations including repetitive and non‑repetitive tasks.
  • Ability to read and interpret: Engineering blueprints, drawings and diagrams, and assembly specifications
  • Working knowledge of hand tools and power tools, pneumatic tools and presses, and etch machines and torque wrenches
  • Proficient in basic shop math
  • Familiar with Quality Inspection methods and maintaining production standards
  • Experience performing tasks like scribing, grinding, deburring, fitting, drilling and light riveting
  • Ability to troubleshoot and rework components
  • Ability to follow written instructions and update manufacturing planning documents
  • Capable of updating setup sheets with supervisor approval
  • Team player with a collaborative, can‑do attitude
  • Proven ability to prioritize and adapt in a fast‑paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational habits, and cleanliness in work areas
  • Adherence to safety protocols, company policies, and state/federal regulations

Responsibilities

  • Assemble from diagrams and drawings using hand and/or power tools, ensuring alignment and tolerances.
  • Perform continuity checks on work in process and completed assemblies.
  • May conduct quality inspections and assist with testing prototypes.
  • Follow written instructions and assemble sub‑assemblies to specifications.
  • Maintain organized work area and document all manufacturing steps in the system.
  • Update setup sheets and programs with supervisor approval.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve assembly process issues.
  • Adhere to safety guidelines and company policies.
