Job summary

Blue Origin in New York is seeking an experienced AFP Engineer to develop, qualify, and sustain automated fiber placement processes for aerospace composites. You will program AFP equipment, verify software simulations, and troubleshoot motion systems and robotics to ensure laminate quality and throughput.

Collaborating with design and manufacturing teams, you will establish process parameters, lead root-cause investigations, and support production readiness for high-velocity aerospace programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline.
• Experience with composite fabrication and automated manufacturing.
• Knowledge of prepregs, layup, debulk, curing, laminate defects, material storage.

Responsibilities

• Develop, qualify, document, and sustain Automated Fiber Placement (AFP) processes for aerospace composites.
• Program, simulate, verify, and release AFP programs using Vericut or equivalent software.
• Troubleshoot AFP equipment, motion systems, robotic cells, CNC interfaces, PLC logic, and HMIs.
• Establish process parameters and acceptance criteria for laminate quality and production throughput.
• Support manufacturing: hand layup, AFP, autoclave curing, cure cycles, trimming, drilling, and machining.
