Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) seeks a qualified engineer to help develop actuation solutions for advanced aerospace control challenges. You will join a multidisciplinary team designing, testing, and validating electromechanical actuation, and you will analyze flight and ground test data to inform improvements.

Requirements include a bachelor’s or master’s in mechanical or electrical engineering, familiarity with MATLAB/Simulink, LabVIEW, and PSpice, and eligibility

Qualifications

  • Hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to work independently and in teams.
  • Familiar with MATLAB/Simulink, LabVIEW, and PSpice for design and analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Design, configure, program, and operate test equipment and sensors to automate experiments.
  • Develop hardware test plans, conduct tests, and evaluate data for actuation and power systems.
  • Build and validate high-fidelity electromechanical actuation models from data and hardware.
  • Participate in design, integration, and test of missile control actuation prototypes.
  • Analyze flight and ground test data and present findings in reports and presentations.
  • Support external teams in design, development, test, and evaluation of actuation systems.
