AERONAUTICS: Adjunct / Substitute Instructor POOL (college credit)
San Diego Community College District

Position Type: Adjunct

Posting Details: The San Diego Community College District accepts applications for adjunct (part-time/substitute) positions for City, Mesa, and Miramar colleges and various continuing education centers on a continuous basis. Hiring departments utilize the adjunct pool when there is a need and will contact qualified applicants directly. Applications are purged approximately one year from submittal, and you may re-apply to remain in the pool.

Position Details

Working Title: Adjunct Faculty

Department: District Wide

Pay Information: Current salary schedule can be viewed by the institution. At the time of offer, official transcripts and/or foreign degree evaluations must be provided. Initial salary placement is at the first class/step until official transcripts are received.

Notes: The offer and salary placement depend on official transcripts and approved credentials.

Major Responsibilities
  • Primary duties relate to curriculum and teaching; the assignment is divided between lecture and lab classes as determined by the department. Adjunct instructional faculty are required to be available to students outside of class.
  • Provide instruction in accordance with established curriculum and course outlines.
  • Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics.
  • Maintain current knowledge in the subject matter areas.
  • Fulfill professional responsibilities of a part-time/temporary faculty member.
  • Teach all scheduled classes.
  • Maintain accurate records.
  • Provide quality instruction, create and maintain an environment which emphasizes teaching and learning and encourages free discussion of ideas, interests and issues.
Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Degrees must be from regionally accredited institutions.
  2. Any Bachelor's degree AND two (2) years of professional experience directly related to the area of assignment; OR,
  3. Any Associate degree AND six (6) years of professional experience directly related to the area of assignment; OR,
  4. The equivalent; AND,
  5. Possession of a Valid certificate(s):
    • FAA Certified Flight or Ground Instructor Certificate (for FAA Part-141 Pilot School courses); OR
    • FAA Remote Pilot Certificate (for FAA Remote Pilot Courses); OR
  6. Demonstrated cultural competency, sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse backgrounds of community college students and staff.
Desired Qualifications

Equivalency: If you do not possess the exact degrees listed, complete a Request for Equivalency Form and attach it during the application process. Foreign Degree: coursework evaluation by a NACES member or ACEI is required; submit with the online application. Licenses/Certificates: [Required for FAA Part-141 Pilot School courses] Valid FAA Certified Flight or Ground Instructor Certificate; [Required for FAA Remote Pilot courses] Valid FAA Remote Pilot Certificate; [If possessed] California Community College Instructor Credential (valid for life).
