Job Description:

Cape Fox subsidiary Eagle Health, LLC is seeking candidates for a Aerobiology, Animal Clinical Pathology and Telemetry (AAT) Research Technician to support a government customer at Ft. Detrick. This position is contingent upon contract award.

The salary range (or hiring range) for this exempt position is $75,000 - $84,000.

The above salary range is the company's good faith estimate of the possible compensation at posting. We offer benefits including holidays, paid time off, health, dental, vision insurance, life and disability insurance, tuition reimbursement, and a 401K with company match. This job will be posted until filled or withdrawn.

Job Summary:

The Employee will support laboratory research by assisting with aerosol exposures, executing protocols, collecting data, and maintaining laboratory space and equipment. Work will involve BSL-2, BSL-3, and BSL-4 laboratories with controlled substances.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in generating and sampling biological aerosols for pathogenesis and medical countermeasure studies against biothreat agents, including animal plethysmography and bacterial/viral assays.
  • Investigate events during infection phases in laboratory animals, support animal protocols, and manage study activities in accordance with schedules and protocols.
  • Perform assays such as ELISA, RT-PCR, cytokine analysis, and others as per protocols.
  • Conduct clinical pathology evaluations supporting animal protocols and colony management.
  • Maintain laboratory space and equipment, document maintenance, and manage supplies.
  • Assist with SOP writing, revision, and audits, responding to CAPAs as needed.
  • Develop and deliver technical training, demonstrate proficiency, and assist in training other staff.
  • Assemble, calibrate, troubleshoot telemetry systems, and support animal studies with telemetry data collection and analysis.
  • Maintain telemetry equipment, inventory, and data security.
  • Collaborate with scientists and staff, assist in data entry and manuscript/poster preparation, and present research findings as required.
  • Maintain training and safety records, perform routine laboratory and containment area duties, and report safety issues.
  • Support animal protocols through observations, sample collection, euthanasia, and tissue collection under GLP standards.
  • Notify leadership of containment restrictions and coordinate task coverage.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree minimum.
  • 5 years of relevant aerosol experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of aerosol equipment and ancillary devices.

  • Long hours and weekends may be necessary.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and detail-oriented skills.
  • Self-motivated with minimal oversight.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. and U.S. citizenship required.
