Job summary

Analytical Mechanics Associates, Inc. seeks an Aerothermodynamics Engineer to support the East and related facilities at NASA Ames Research Center, performing high-enthalpy testing in EAST and other facilities onsite.

The role requires a Master’s degree in a relevant engineering field and a strong experimental background. The candidate will develop, integrate, and operate optical diagnostics and measurement techniques, document procedures and uncertainties, and coordinate activities with

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or higher in Aerospace Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field.

Responsibilities

  • Planning and execution of experimental campaigns in high-enthalpy test facilities (shock tubes, plasma wind tunnels)
  • Development and operation of optical diagnostic techniques (spectroscopy, detectors)
  • Measurement techniques for material-response (pyrometry, radiometry, IR imaging)
  • Configuration and synchronization of experimental hardware and data-acquisition systems
  • Documentation of procedures, configurations, uncertainties, and results
  • Coordination with facility personnel, collaborators and researchers
