RTX, a leading aerospace and defense company, offers an Aero Thermal Fluids Internship at Pratt & Whitney in East Hartford. You will work with engineers to analyze lubrication-system designs in jet engines and gain experience with multi-physics simulations.

You will perform CFD and heat-transfer studies, write small analysis codes in Python, review results with cross‑functional teams, and help advance lubrication-system concepts for both commercial and military applications.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience in fluid mechanics and heat transfer.
• Experience with CFD, heat transfer, or system analysis.
• Experience writing codes using Python or similar.

What You Will Do

Join our team focused on performing design analysis for lubrication systems in aero‑engines for commercial and military applications. This role offers the opportunity to work alongside engineers and experts to assess the design, performance, and durability of components. You will gain experience in understanding how multi‑physics phenomena impact components and systems design in jet engines.

• Analyze multi‑physics phenomena, including fluid mechanics and heat transfer, to assess system performance.

Qualifications You Must Have

• Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Aerospace Engineering or Mechanical Engineering and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship session
• Experience in fluid mechanics and heat transfer through coursework or projects
• Experience in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), heat transfer, or system analysis for flow and energy transfer systems
• Experience writing codes for analysis using tools such as Python or equivalent.
• Minimum Cumulative GPA of 3.0

Experience may be obtained through on‑the‑job experience, research, coursework, or projects

Qualifications We Prefer

• Experience with multi‑physics phenomena analysis.
• Experience with CAD tools such as NX or similar software.
• Minimum of 60 credit hours by internship start
• Familiarity with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) tools such as ANSYS Fluent, STAR‑CCM+, or equivalent.
• Exposure to AI‑based data analysis techniques.

Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
