Quest Defense Systems and Solutions QDSS is seeking an Aero Thermal Engineer to support aerospace propulsion programs. The position will primarily support secondary flow engineering activities for nonconforming or damaged hardware and may also encompass thermal analysis.

The successful candidate will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to evaluate aerospace engine components, investigate secondary-flow impacts associated with nonconformances, and develop technically rigorous recommendations to support product quality, performance, and operational requirements.

The preferred candidate will demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills, a thorough understanding of gas turbine engines, and the ability to support engineering dispositions and advanced thermal-fluid analyses.

U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain a Secret clearance are required. Active Secret clearance is preferred.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide QN and ENC engineering support for the evaluation and disposition of nonconformances affecting new and fielded engine components.
  • Conduct engineering assessments and technical evaluations for QN and overhaul damage work packages.
  • Evaluate component nonconformances, dimensional deviations, and engineering records to develop technically substantiated recommendations.
  • Review engineering drawings, specifications, hardware measurement data, and analytical results to determine component acceptability.
  • Collaborate with design, structures, project, manufacturing, customer support, and other engineering functions to resolve technical issues in a timely manner.
  • Perform or support thermal, heat transfer, and fluid flow analyses for gas turbine components and systems.
  • Evaluate analytical results and prepare engineering reports, technical summaries, and supporting documentation.
  • Support root cause investigations, corrective action initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Partner with customer engineering teams to address technical challenges while fulfilling quality and delivery commitments.
  • Enhance engineering workflows, analytical methods, and overall technical efficiency.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing aerospace components, mechanical systems, or comparably complex products.
  • Working knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and fundamental engineering principles.
  • Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, technical specifications, and analytical documentation.
  • Experience conducting engineering investigations, resolving technical issues, or evaluating components.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across engineering disciplines.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage technical assignments and deliver accurate results within established schedules.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Direct experience supporting QN, ENC, or field support engineering activities within aerospace or gas turbine environments.
  • Knowledge of gas turbine architecture, including compressor, combustor, and turbine components.
  • Experience with FABLE or other secondary flow system analysis tools.
  • Experience evaluating aerospace component nonconformances, dispositions, or repairs.
  • Experience supporting aerospace OEM teams and customer-facing technical engagements.
  • U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance
