Job summary

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems in Palmdale, CA seeks an Aeronautical Propulsion Engineer to contribute to propulsion subsystem work with a cross-functional team. Relocation may be available; active Secret clearance required for start with potential Top Secret. Travel up to 25% of the time.

The role focuses on performance, readiness, and technical integrity, with collaboration across propulsion, avionics, structures, and test teams to meet specs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field with 2 years related engineering experience, or Master’s degree with no required experience.
• Experience with aeronautic and mechanical systems and subsystem integration.
• Proficiency in Siemens AMESIM, MATLAB/Simulink, and CAD tools.
• Active US Secret clearance with ability to obtain Top Secret; SAP clearance possible.

Responsibilities

• Act as SME for propulsion subsystem, owning performance, readiness, and integrity.
• Define and champion system improvements as needed.
• Lead mechanical design and development to produce drawings and manufacturing-ready docs.
• Represent engineering in supplier management and resolve manufacturing issues.
• Define and validate requirements; perform sizing, calculations, and analyses.
• Collaborate across teams to coordinate interfaces, timing, packaging, and certification evidence.
