Job summary

Riggs CAT is seeking a Field Service Aerial Lift Technician to provide high-quality repair service on rental equipment and respond to customer needs in a positive, timely manner. You will work out of a field service truck and perform parts removal/installation, testing, and troubleshooting with tools and laptops.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED (or 3–5 years related experience), ability to read manuals, basic math, and familiarity with diagnostic software.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; or 3–5 years related experience or equivalent.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and manuals; write routine reports.
• Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages and work with measurements.
• Knowledge of database software and order processing systems.
• Clean driving record; must be 21+; may require DOT physical; MSHA certification may be needed.

Responsibilities

• Remove and install parts, disassemble and assemble components, and test and adjust assemblies with minimal supervision.
• Use hand tools, air tools, precision measuring tools, instruments and laptops.
• Understand manuals, schematics, parts books and installation instructions.
• Maintain advanced knowledge of boom lifts, scissor lifts, telehandlers, engines and related equipment.
• Troubleshoot systems for errors.
• Complete assigned jobs to meet flat rate times and update metrics.
• Follow safety policies and contamination control rules.
• Complete related paperwork (work orders, parts orders, JSA, DBS, SIMS, SIS web, BMTS) accurately.
• Work various schedules including shift work, overtime and on-call.
• Overnight travel is minimal; this is a safety-sensitive field position.

Description: The Rental Field Service Aerial Lift Technician is responsible for providing high quality repair service on rental equipment, in order to respond to customer needs in a positive, caring and timely manner and to ensure maximum value for work performed.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Remove and install parts, disassemble and assemble components, and test and adjust assemblies with minimal supervision.
• Use hand tools, air tools, precision measuring tools, instruments and laptops.
• Understand basic manuals, schematics, and parts books and installation instructions.
• Maintain Advanced working knowledge of boom lifts, scissor lifts, telehandlers, engine, compressor, pumps, and light construction equipment.
• Troubleshoot systems for errors.
• Mastery level knowledge of basic hand tools, air tools, precision measuring tools and instruments, laptops, diagnostic software and cranes and rigging equipment
• Complete assigned jobs and task to meet flat rate times and re-do metric.
• Work safely and follow all Riggs safety policies and procedures.
• Complete related paperwork and access databases required to complete job (work order, parts order, JSA, DBS, SIMS, SIS web, BMTS) accurately and timely.
• Follow contamination control and HAZMAT rules and regulations
• Other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or 3-5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• This position requires the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals and the ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentages. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, area, circumference, and volume as required.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form and the ability to deal with problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Knowledge of Database software; Internet software; and Order processing systems.
• Clean driving record for field assignment
• Must be at least 21 to be assigned and operate field vehicle
• May be required to complete DOT physical
• May require MSHA certification
• Flexibility to work various schedules
