Job description

Position Overview: We are seeking an Experienced Aerial Telecommunication Lineman who is capable of leading and managing their own crew to install, maintain, and repair overhead and underground fiber lines. This leadership role requires not only technical expertise in line work but also the ability to coordinate team operations, ensure safety, and oversee projects from start to finish. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of electrical and telecommunication systems, and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead & Manage Crew:

    • Supervise a crew of linemen, ground workers, and apprentices to ensure safe and efficient completion of projects.
    • Assign tasks, set daily goals, and monitor progress to ensure timelines and quality standards are met.
    • Provide on-the-job training and mentorship to crew members, ensuring skills development and adherence to safety practices.
  • Line Installation & Maintenance:

    • Lead the installation, repair, and maintenance of overhead and underground utility lines, including fiber optic, and telecommunication systems.
    • Oversee the splicing, testing, and troubleshooting of cables and lines.
    • Ensure that all work is completed in compliance with safety codes, industry standards, and company guidelines.
  • Customer Interaction & Communication:

    • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients during projects, ensuring clear communication and satisfaction.
    • Respond to customer inquiries and handle issues or service requests as needed.
    • Maintain a professional and customer-friendly demeanor in all interactions.
  • Equipment and Vehicle Management:

    • Ensure that all tools, equipment, and vehicles are in good working condition and ready for use.
    • Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of crew vehicles and equipment.
    • Keep accurate records of materials used, tools, and time spent on projects.

Requirements:

  • Experience/Skills:

    • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Lineman, including substantial experience in leadership or supervisory roles.
    • Strong technical knowledge of overhead and underground fiber optics, and telecommunication networks.
    • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a crew, with strong communication and organizational skills.
    • In-depth knowledge of safety protocols and industry standards related to lineman work.
    • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues independently and with the team.
  • Licenses/Certifications:

    • Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is required.
    • Lineman certification (or equivalent) required.
    • First Aid/CPR certification (preferred).
    • Other relevant industry certifications are a plus.
  • Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment (up to 50 pounds or more).
    • Ability to climb utility poles, towers, or other structures.
    • Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights, often in outdoor or inclement weather conditions.
    • Stamina to work long hours and on-call shifts as needed.
