Job description

Summary

Operate and maintain plant equipment to assure system requirements are within specification. This is a full-time hourly position, reporting to the Plant Supervisor in Boston, MA. This position is a member of the Bargaining Unit Member of the IUOE, Local 877.

Responsibilities
  • All activities covered under Control Operator. Uses all hand and power tools to maintain / repair equipment.
  • Determine appropriate loading of equipment.
  • Adds or shuts down boilers and auxiliaries as needed to maintain system reliability and efficiency.
  • Coordinates the Auxiliary Operators daily duties.
  • Schedule and coordinate fuel oil deliveries to specific tanks.
  • Keep work areas clean and orderly and maintain safe working conditions.
  • Review logs, charts and records.
  • Assist others as required.
  • All other related duties.
Qualifications and Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have the ability to distinguish between different shades of color and transcribe numbers accurately.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge and ability to operate all Vicinity production equipment and associated auxiliaries.
  • Must be able to work effectively individually and with a group of other operators and technicians.
  • Massachusetts Second Class Engineers License required.
  • Massachusetts Grade II Industrial Wastewater License.
  • Valid Drivers License to operate company vehicle.
Physical Requirements
  • Required to wear a half face respirator or powered air respirators (PAPR) or proper safety procedures warrant use.
  • Required to lift and/or operate machinery, tools, etc., weighing up to 50 pounds, unassisted.
  • Required to work in confined spaces.
  • Required climbing ladders, and/or stairs.
  • Required to work in all adverse conditions, both indoors and outdoors all seasons.
  • Required to work in hot areas.
