Job description

The Aerial Lift Trimmer is responsible for trimming, pruning, and removing trees with the aid of a bucket truck or other equipment or tools.

2-3 years of previous experience operating an aerial lift trimmer or similar equipment is required. A valid driver's license is required; CDL is preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Always follow and help enforce safe practices and rules.
2. Assist in preparing truck and materials needed for each day at the direction of the General Foreperson.
3. Perform professional tree maintenance activities as directed by the General Foreperson.
4. Clear and trim trees and brush away from utility lines; remove branches and tree material.
5. Clean up and dispose of all debris.
6. Maintain and keep track of all tools and equipment used in daily operations.
7. Continuously observe and practice climbing and tree maintenance skills to improve professional abilities.
8. Be ready and willing to assist other crew members in all aspects of daily activities.
9. Safeguard employees and the public from hazards by enforcing safe job practices, maintaining a clean work area, and communicating effectively with co-workers.
10. Perform duties for storm work as needed.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Preferred experience in electric utility vegetation management, construction, logging, landscaping, mechanical, or military industries; prior aerial lift experience is preferred.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

High School diploma or equivalent preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Knowledge of knots, ropes, and rigging devices used in tree trimming and removal.
• Ability to identify tree species.
• Familiarity with electrical hazards and safe operating procedures near electrical conductors.
• Ability to work at heights under adverse weather conditions.
• Physical strength, agility, good balance, and depth perception.
• Ability to obtain and maintain first-aid and CPR certification.
• Knowledge of emergency rescue techniques, including tree rescue and first aid.
• Ability to quickly remove oneself from danger.
• Willingness to wear PPE and travel for storm restoration work.
