Job summary

Fiber Network Services, Inc. is seeking an Aerial Groundhand for the Culloden/Huntington, WV area to support aerial crews. The role involves handling tools, materials, and supplies, maintaining work areas, and assisting with traffic control and safety around construction sites.

Responsibilities include reading plans, loading materials, and operating or aiding machines as needed. Candidates should have a high school diploma, field experience, and the ability to work outdoors in varying weather

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in underground construction for CATV telecommunications systems.
• Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
• Knowledge of relevant safety procedures in a construction setting.
• Experience working in a field environment.
• Able to work in inclement weather.
• Able to work with a flexible schedule.
• Able to pass a background check and drug test.

Responsibilities

• Control traffic passing near, in, or around work zones.
• Clean or prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards.
• Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, or adjustment of machinery, equipment, or materials.
• Read plans, instructions, or specifications to determine work activities.
• Load, unload, or identify building materials, machinery, or tools, distributing them to the appropriate locations, according to project plans or specifications.
• Measure, mark, or record openings or distances to layout areas where construction work will be performed.
• Dig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, or compact and level earth to grade specifications.
• Tend to the pumps, compressors, or generators to provide power for tools, machinery, or equipment.
• Erect or dismantle traffic barricades or other temporary structures for safety.
• Lubricate and clean machinery, equipment, or tools.
• Utilize machinery, such as directional drill, to drill holes in many different types of dirt and clay.

Fiber Network Services is looking for an Aerial Groundhand for our Culloden/Huntington, WV location. The Aerial Groundhand assists the Aerial crew by furnishing tools, materials, and supplies; cleaning work area, machines, and tools, holding materials or tools for other workers and performing traffic control duties.
