The Aerial Ground Hand is responsible for supporting aerial telecommunications construction crews in the installation, maintenance, and repair of aerial fiber optic and copper infrastructure. This role assists with material handling, job site setup, cable placement activities, traffic control, and general labor duties while ensuring all safety and quality standards are met. The Aerial Ground Hand works closely with Linemen and Foremen to support the successful completion of telecommunications projects.

Key Responsibilities
- Support aerial construction crews with the installation and maintenance of fiber optic and copper telecommunications infrastructure
- Load, unload, and transport tools, equipment, and materials to and from job sites
- Assist with strand placement, cable pulling, lashing operations, and pole transfers
- Perform job site setup, including traffic control and safety zone establishment
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and other equipment required to complete assigned tasks
- Assist with digging, trenching, material staging, and site cleanup activities
- Conduct pre-job safety inspections and participate in daily safety meetings
- Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicles in good working condition
- Communicate effectively with crew members and supervisors to ensure projects are completed safely and efficiently
- Perform other duties as assigned to support construction operations
Qualifications
- Previous experience in telecommunications, utility, construction, or general labor environments preferred
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Experience with hand tools and power tools
- Ability to follow directions and work effectively as part of a team
- Valid driver's license preferred
- CDL or willingness to obtain a CDL is a plus
Preferred Skills
- Experience as an Aerial Ground Hand, Laborer, or Utility Construction Worker
- Traffic control experience
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
- Knowledge of telecommunications safety standards
- Variable weather conditions
- May require travel depending on project location
