Job summary

Metro Atlanta Ambulance Service is seeking an EMT-Advanced (EMT-A) to respond to EMS calls, provide pre-hospital care, and support inter-facility transfers in alignment with company protocols. The position requires active EMT licensure, BLS certification, and a Georgia driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Responsibilities include operating basic life support equipment, documentation, and vehicle maintenance while ensuring safety and readiness for each shift.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Possess and maintain current EMT licensure.
• Possess and maintain current BLS certification.
• Possess and maintain a current Georgia Driver’s license for at least 2 years.
• Drivers must be at least 19 years of age.
• No more than 2 traffic violations within the last 36 months.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care in accordance with license, company policies, procedures, protocols, guidelines, directives and standards.
• Maintain working knowledge and proficiency of anatomy, physiology, pharmacology and other standards of care specific to the employee’s level of licensure.
• Respond to all assigned calls in an appropriate, safe and efficient manner.
• Complete required documentation, obtain appropriate signatures and submit documentation as required for each assigned call by the end of each assigned shift.
• Efficiently utilize supplies and equipment according to departmental guidelines; to include the efficient operation of all basic life support equipment, properly logging in and out equipment, cleaning and restocking units, reporting possible abuse or damage of equipment to the Field Operations Supervisor.
• Maintain a thorough working knowledge of local geography and the ability to read map, street, and grid books.
• Ensure the unit and equipment are consistently maintained in a clean, organized and ready condition after each response. Shall ensure proper fuel, fluid and tire pressure levels at all times. Report vehicle equipment damage or malfunctions as outlined in the operations standard operating procedures.
• Complete all station duties and maintain crew quarters in neat and serviceable conditions.
• Perform all of the above functions in accordance with established financial and operational plans and goals pertaining to cost effectiveness and efficient management.
• Prompt and regular attendance at work.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

TITLE: Emergency Medical Technician – Advanced (EMT-A)

DEPARTMENT: EMS Operations

SUPERVISED BY: EMS Operations Supervisor

SUMMARY:

The EMT-A responds to emergency and non-emergency requests for ambulance service and administers pre-hospital care and inter-facility medical care in accordance with approved company medical protocols, policies and procedures. Required to drive the emergency vehicle and communicate via a two-way radio. The EMT-A is primarily responsible for the safe operations, cleaning and maintenance of the vehicle, in addition to assisting with on-scene patient care. The EMT-A is responsible for ensuring the security of the vehicle and that equipment and supply inventories are maintained.
