Job summary

Apex Systems is seeking an experienced AEM Developer to design, build, and maintain Adobe Experience Manager solutions powering Ford's web platforms. You will work with architects, UX/UI designers, product managers, and QA engineers to deliver scalable, secure applications across the full AEM stack, from components to cloud deployment.

The role involves hybrid onsite work in Dearborn, MI with 4 days onsite per week and 1 day remote.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of AEM development experience with components, templates, workflows, and DAM.
  • Strong HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and at least one frontend framework (React/Angular).
  • Experience with Java, Sling, and OSGi in an AEM environment.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and JIRA/Confluence.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain AEM components, templates, workflows, and content fragments.
  • Build AEM as a Cloud Service implementations, including authoring and dispatcher configs.
  • Develop DAM repository with metadata schemas and governance.
  • Configure Blueprints, Live Copies, and Rollout Configs for multi-site consistency.
  • Create responsive front-ends using HTML5, CSS3, JS and React/Angular.
  • Implement backend services with Java, Sling, and OSGi; REST integrations.
  • Collaborate with UX/UI designers, product managers, and QA
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and manage work with JIRA/Confluence.
  • Document specifications and troubleshoot production issues.

Position Description Seeking a skilled AEM Developer to help transform our digital properties into modern, engaging customer experiences. In this role, you will design, build, and maintain Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) solutions that power Ford's web platforms. You will work alongside architects, UX/UI designers, product managers, and QA engineers to deliver scalable, high-performing, and secure applications that support Ford's global digital ecosystem. This is an opportunity to build meaningful, high-impact software at scale while growing your expertise across the full AEM stack, from component and template development to cloud deployment.

Key Responsibilities
AEM Development
  • Develop and maintain AEM components, templates, workflows, and content fragments that support scalable, reusable digital experiences.
  • Build and support AEM as a Cloud Service (AEMaaCS) implementations, including authoring, publishing, and dispatcher configurations.
  • Develop and maintain the Digital Asset Management (DAM) repository, including metadata schemas, folder structures, and asset governance.
  • Configure and maintain Blueprints, Live Copies, and Rollout Configurations to ensure content consistency across multi-site environments.
  • Build responsive, high-performance front-end experiences using HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and modern frameworks such as React or Angular.
  • Develop backend services and integrations using Java, Sling, and OSGi, including REST/API integrations with third-party systems.
  • Write clean, scalable, and well-tested code, and actively participate in code reviews.
  • Partner with UX/UI designers, business analysts, and product managers to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, and backlog refinement, while managing work through tools such as JIRA and Confluence.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation and specifications.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve production issues with a focus on system stability and continuous improvement.
  • Troubleshoot indexing failures, data synchronization issues, and search relevance problems across environments.
  • Collaborate with architects to evaluate and evolve search architecture as content volume and site footprint grow.
DevOps & Cloud
  • Support and enhance CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Git, Jenkins, and GitHub Actions.
  • Deploy and manage applications on cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, and GCP.
  • Apply best practices for security, accessibility, and performance across all deliverables.

Required Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in AEM development, including components, templates, workflows, and DAM.
  • Strong proficiency with HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and at least one modern front-end framework (React or Angular).
  • Experience with Java, Sling, and OSGi within an AEM environment.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools such as JIRA and Confluence.
  • Strong problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience with AEM as a Cloud Service (AEMaaCS).
  • Experience with DevOps tools and processes, including Git, Jenkins, and GitHub Actions.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Familiarity with microservices and service-oriented architecture.
  • Curiosity and hands-on experience using AI tools to support development, testing, or content workflows.
  • Adobe AEM certification(s).
  • Experience with Elasticsearch and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)-based search models.
  • Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot or agentic AI solutions for automated code reviews.

Hybrid Schedule: 4 days per week onsite in Dearborn, MI and 1 day per week remote.

Important: Fully remote work is not available for this position. Candidates must be located within the Metro Detroit area and able to commute by their start date.
