Qualifications

  • Minimum of one year proven work experience training/teaching adults.

Responsibilities

  • Review student assessments/testing and goal setting within the first week of attendance.
  • Assist with tracking students hours in TEAMS.
  • Integrate approved Distance Learning Curriculum in the classroom when applicable.
  • Complete daily class attendance rosters and document absences.
  • Maintain familiarity with course textbooks and teaching materials; revise content as needed.
  • Submit staff-related forms within required timelines.
  • Notify supervisor of student support needs and document referrals with confidentiality.
  • Adhere to College Mission, procedures and regulations.

We are searching for candidates that meet the required qualifications and experience and are able to perform the essential duties and responsibilities.

Job Summary:

Provide educational instruction to students in Adult Education and Literacy (AEL) non-credit courses in any of the following areas: English as a Second Language, Reasoning through Language Arts and Social Studies, Math and Science in accordance with course syllabus, grant schedule and college mission. Schedules may include day, evening, weekend, and online offerings.

**This position is 100% grant-funded. Therefore, continuation of the position will be contingent upon continued external funding.**

Required Qualifications:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Review student assessments/testing, and educational/vocational goal setting for all assigned students within the first week of attendance.
  • Assist with tracking students hours in the Texas Educating Adults Management System (TEAMS).
  • Integrate approved Distance Learning Curriculum in the classroom when applicable.
  • Complete daily class attendance rosters and accurately document student absences.
  • Maintain familiarity with current course textbooks, classroom materials, teaching aids, and teaching techniques. Revise course content, teaching methodology, and technology to maintain currency and relevance relative to courses within the discipline.
  • Complete and submit all staff-related forms in accordance with directed timeline requirements.
  • Immediately notify supervisor of any and all support services that students may need, document referrals made and respect confidentiality in discussing student matters with staff and volunteers.
  • Maintain a thorough working knowledge of and adhere to College Mission, procedures and regulations.
Supplemental Functions:
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Perform all duties and maintain all standards in accordance with college policies, procedures and Core Values.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge or experience using the Cambridge Ventures curriculum a plus
Microsoft Office skills

Physical Demands, Working Conditions and Physical Effort:

Sedentary Work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met. Positions in this class typically require talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, walking and repetitive motions. Relatively free from unpleasant environmental conditions or hazards. Office environment. Little physical effort required.

Requirements:
