Job summary

Astrion seeks a highly qualified engineer to join our Missile Defense team in Dahlgren, VA. The role supports the Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense Program Office with technical and programmatic expertise, focusing on communications for SM-3 Block IIA and integration with command-and-control systems.

The candidate will document architectures, assist with performance assessments, and contribute to system-level verification.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree in a STEM-related discipline is required.
  • 7+ years of relevant experience.
  • Active DoD Secret clearance is required; U.S. citizenship is necessary.
  • Ability to work independently, in teams, or as a lead on tasks.
  • Strong engineering discipline to solve technical and scientific problems.
  • Experience providing programmatic oversight for SM-3 Block IIA communications, components, development, and integration within the Guidance and Kinetic Warhead.
  • Proficiency with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Support MDA's Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense Program Office with technical and programmatic expertise.
  • Provide communications support for the SM-3 Block IIA missile focusing on RF missile communications components.
  • Deliver operational and technical assistance to integrate existing and evolving command and control systems.
  • Develop and document system architectures and functions in Interface Control Documents, including GFC/C to Link-16 interface.
  • Support performance assessment and verification activities for the Systems Engineer in the Aegis Program Office.
  • Help develop, monitor, and implement performance assessment and verification plans to evaluate system performance.

Requirements

Must have:
  • We require a BA/BS degree in a STEM-related discipline.
  • We are seeking candidates with 7+ years of relevant experience.
  • An active DoD Secret clearance is required, which means U.S. citizenship is necessary.

  • You should have experience providing programmatic oversight for SM-3 Block IIA missile communications, components, development, and integration within the Guidance Section and Kinetic Warhead.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required.
  • Preferred qualifications include an active TS/SCI clearance.
  • Prior experience with Aegis Weapons Systems is highly desirable.
  • Experience in missile system software development is preferred.
  • Technical background in fleet operations, systems engineering, missile systems, Aegis qualifications, or a related area is desired.

  • We deliver operational and technical assistance to integrate existing and evolving command and control systems.
  • We develop and document system architectures and functions in the relevant Interface Control Documents, including the GFC/C to Link-16 interface document.
  • We support performance assessment and verification activities for the Systems Engineer supporting the Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense Program Office.
  • We help develop, monitor, and implement performance assessment and verification plans to evaluate and confirm system performance.

This is a full-time position with a salary range of $100,000 to $150,000.
