Job summary

Good Shepherd Services, Ltd. is seeking an Advocate Counselor to provide individual and group counseling, case management, advocacy, and crisis intervention for older adolescents in the YABC program at Franklin Delano Roosevelt High School in Brooklyn.

This full-time role reports to the Program Director and works on-site at 5800 20th Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11204. The Advocate Counselor will collaborate with school personnel, implement workshops, and support attendance and college preparation

Qualifications

• Associate's degree required.
• Experience with adolescent/young adults.
• Bi-lingual Spanish/English preferred.
• Prior school setting experience helpful.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Provide case management for students needing supportive services.
• Provide individual and group counseling.
• Provide crisis intervention as needed.
• Provide family outreach and involvement as appropriate.
• Develop and implement workshops responsive to student needs.
• Assist students in attending school regularly through identifying obstacles and connecting with resources; attendance outreach including home visits.
• Assist in carrying out other aspects of the program including planning trips, celebrations, and leadership activities.
• Support students with all aspects of the college preparation process including applications, financial aid, personal essay, and college visits.
• Function as an active member of Good Shepherd Services and school teams.
• Perform statistical, narrative, and record keeping duties as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Hours: 35 Hours/Week; Non- Exempt (Regular Full Time)
Salary: $44,000 - $50,000
Job Summary: The Advocate Counselor provides individual and group counseling, case management, advocacy, referrals and crisis intervention to older adolescents in the YABC Program. The Advocate Counselor also assists in implementing other aspects of the program in close collaboration with agency and school personnel.

Major Duties

• Provide case management for students identified as in need of supportive services.
• Provide individual and group counseling.
• Provide crisis intervention as needed.
