Zusammenfassung

The American Academy of Dermatology, Washington, DC, is seeking a Specialist, Political & External Affairs to coordinate projects, support public policy engagement, and assist with grassroots advocacy for SkinPAC.

You will compile background research, prepare materials for committees, track policy issues, and collaborate with sister societies and patient coalitions while supporting day-to-day operations of the advocacy team in a hybrid work environment.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
• Experience with database management software.
• Minimum two years’ experience on Capitol Hill, on a campaign, for a law firm or in an association, providing project coordination, member management, and/or event planning.
• Association experience preferred.
• Strong desire to learn on the job about direct advocacy and practical politics.
• Interest in the healthcare field and medical advocacy.
• Ability to collaborate and establish effective relationships across teams.
• Excellent communication, both written and verbal.

Aufgaben

• Coordinate projects including maintaining member databases and spreadsheets, identifying and planning critical tasks, preparing project timelines, and monitoring progress of projects.
• Coordinate all projects related to coalition partners, including meetings, calls, agendas, and reports.
• Maintain SkinPAC database, website and fundraising tools; manage disbursement requests and coordinate participation in events.
• Work with Advocacy & Policy staff to keep grassroots database current and disseminate advocacy alerts.
• Monitor, track, research and analyze health care policy information relevant to dermatology.
• Coordinate background research, data collection, and analysis on health care policy issues; assist with report writing.
• Prepare correspondence, reports, and presentation materials for committee meetings.
• Respond to inquiries from Academy members and the public; determine priority matters.
