This position provides coordination and support to Easterseals Midwest’s (ESMW) advocacy program, including coordinating and strengthening ESMW’s advocacy network; maintaining the advocacy constituent database; coordinating advocacy events and legislative engagement opportunities; and preparing advocacy communications, resources, and materials.
Essential Functions:
- Coordinates and strengthens ESMW’s grassroots advocacy network by providing information about advocacy opportunities, identifying and engaging advocates, maintaining ongoing relationships, and supporting participation in advocacy activities.
- Maintains advocacy constituent database, including entering advocate, legislator, stakeholder and coalition records; tracking advocacy participation activities; and ensuring accurate, up-to-date data and reporting to support advocacy activities and track defined measures.
- Coordinates advocacy events, legislative visits, public meetings, trainings, and engagement activities, including scheduling, logistics, registrations, meeting materials and follow-up activities.
- Supports advocacy communication and engagement activities by preparing advocacy resources, communications, and other materials using approved messaging, priorities, and communications plans.
- Utilizes knowledge of legislative process, advocacy and grassroots engagement principles to build relationships and engagement strategies to mobilize advocates.
- Able to work independently and coordinate multiple projects involving a variety of stakeholders and competing deadlines.
- Develops and maintains productive relationships with advocates, individuals with disabilities, families, community partners, and organizational staff.
- Able to utilize and maintain Constituent Relationship Management (CRM) system and report accurate data.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products and computer systems.

Qualifications:
- Must have bachelor’s degree in related field.
- Previous experience coordinating meetings, events, projects, or community engagement activities involving multiple stakeholders required.
- Must have previous experience utilizing Constituent Relationship Management (CRM) system, or other similar system, to track and report data.
- Must have experience working with Microsoft Office suite and virtual meeting platforms.
- Previous experience supporting grassroots advocacy, community organizing, public engagement, or volunteer mobilization preferred.
- Previous experience working for a nonprofit advocacy organization, membership association, political campaign, or government relations office preferred.
Additional Requirements:
- This position typically works weekday, daytime hours. May work early morning, evening, and/or weekends as need for advocacy-related activities.
- Travel throughout Missouri and Kansas is required to for advocacy meetings, visits, and events. This position may travel to ESMW locations, government buildings/offices, community locations, and other meeting venues.
- Limited overnight travel may be required for advocacy-related meetings and events.
- Must have current driver’s license and proof of insurance.
- Must complete and maintain all required trainings/certifications.
- Must maintain confidential information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
