The Role

AspenTech is a leading supplier of software that optimizes process manufacturing – including oil and gas, petroleum, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and other industries that manufacture and produce products from a chemical process. With integrated aspenONE solutions, process manufacturers can implement best practices for optimizing their engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain operations. As a result, AspenTech customers are better able to increase capacity, improve margins, reduce costs, and become more energy efficient.

AspenTech is seeking an Advisory Engineer within our Global Professional Services organization based in Europe. The candidate’s major responsibility is to provide consulting services within the Supply Chain division focusing on refinery planning, scheduling, and offline blend optimization.

Your Impact
  • Deliver consulting services including solutions design, implementation, technical delivery, training, and advisory services to support AspenTech clients in their exploitation of AspenTech Petroleum SCM Suite of solutions (PIMS/AUP, APS/AUS, MBO, PSCP) for refineries/Olefins/Aromatics business.
  • The candidate will execute most of the project work from project start to finish.
  • Perform/participate in proof of concepts/trial evaluation and provide user training.
  • Lead cross-functional teams such as the Customer Support and R&D to resolve Petroleum SCM issues.
  • Support Sales and Marketing to grow Petroleum SCM licenses and services business.
  • Support R&D with Product Beta testing and help to improve product quality.
  • Provide product training at the office and customer site worldwide to support customer’s skill leverage.
  • Knowledge transfer for internal staff, product training, and best practices of operation.
What You'll Need
  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, Petroleum/Petrochemical Engineering, or similar fields is necessary. Masters is an added advantage.
  • 15+ years of relevant experience in disciplines like Refinery or Petrochemical Planning/Scheduling or providing consulting services in these areas.
  • Experience in a related service organization and exposure to refinery, Olefins, or Aromatics industries is preferred. Candidates with experience as model administrator or internal consultant roles for use of these applications in the Refinery/Petrochemical plants are also eligible.
  • Familiarity with AspenTech Refinery Supply Chain Planning, Scheduling, and Blending suite of Products (PIMS/AUP, APS/AUS, MBO, PSCP) or similar solutions of other vendors is required. Some experience in model development/maintenance or implementation of these solutions is required.
  • Knowledge of Refinery/Petrochemical processes and their Supply Chain management aspects is preferable. Overview knowledge of various applications used in the Refinery/Petrochemical industries and their integration will be an added advantage.
  • Working knowledge of MS SQL Server and/or Oracle will be useful.
  • Programming skills in VB, VB.Net, ASP.Net, C++, C#.Net, XML/XSL will be useful.
  • Good written and oral communication skills in English are required.
  • Capable of multi-tasking efficiently and effectively, with domestic/international travel of up to 25%.
  • Fast learner with a desire/motivation to learn cutting-edge new technologies. A team player with the ability to relate to customers and maintain good working relationships.
