Adventures Plus is seeking an energetic Site Coordinator to supervise staff, develop programming, and oversee operations before/after school, on non-school days, and summer sessions across multiple sites in Minnesota.

The role requires ensuring safety, training, and compliance with district and program policies while delivering high-quality activity plans and supportive coaching for staff and families.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise staff and manage site operations for before/after school and summer programs.
  • Maintain student-to-staff ratios and ensure DHS compliance.
  • Develop and train staff on safety, health, and site emergency plans.
  • Lead professional development and monthly staff meetings.
  • Communicate clear expectations and provide timely feedback to staff.
  • Plan age-appropriate activities and adapt as needed for participation.
  • Coordinate with other site leaders and school personnel.

Reporting Relationship

The Adventures Plus Site Coordinator reports to and takes direction from the Program Coordinators and Program Supervisor.

Basic Function of the Position

Supervise staff, program development, and operation for at least one site, before and after school, on non-school days, and in the summer. Hours may include straight and split shifts based on program needs. Perform other duties as assigned.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Position
  • Works with the Staffing Program Coordinator to effectively staff the site based on enrollment numbers, paying close attention to ratios and qualifications. Fills in as needed to maintain ratios.
  • Monitors accountability and ratios during program hours and adjusts staffing as needed.
  • Ensures all DHS requirements are met, including but not limited to staffing, training, reporting, health and safety measures, etc.
  • Ensures program safety guidelines on and off site. Creates, maintains, and trains staff on site emergency plans.
  • Follows Adventures Plus and Anoka Hennepin School District policies and procedures and trains all staff accordingly.
  • Attends and actively participates in all required professional development and facilitates monthly staff meetings.
  • Ensures that staff members have a clear understanding of their responsibilities by thoroughly communicating expectations and providing consistent coaching and feedback when expectations are not met.
  • Ensures Site Leaders plan and implement enriching and age-appropriate activities to meet the needs of all children, including implementing all Adventures Plus initiatives, according to the Site Standard Checklist.
  • Knows and applies basic techniques for working with students and models them for staff.
  • Works with all staff to adapt activities, as needed, to allow active participation by the child/ren.
  • Implements site standard accommodations for all students and trains staff accordingly.
  • Implements and provides feedback on individual behavior modification plans for children as needed, with the assistance of the Inclusion Team.
  • Monitors and assesses situations involving an escalated child and steps in to provide coaching and/or assistance when necessary.
  • Demonstrates great customer service. Engages with families and children during program time and creates a warm and welcoming climate.
  • Displays respect for individual differences, backgrounds, and interests by using inclusive materials and equipment.
  • Works cooperatively with other Site Coordinators, Site Leaders, and school personnel during school days, Non-School Days, and Summer.
  • Maintains professional boundaries, a positive attitude, and is a positive role model at all times.
  • Maintains an organized and uncluttered work environment for all staff; co-workers and substitutes can easily function in assigned work areas.
Staff Supervisory Responsibilities

Responsible for supervision of all site staff, including setting expectations, providing work direction, training, and mentoring to all child care assistants, Lane 2 child care assistants, Site Leaders, volunteers, and interns. Facilitates the employee goal setting and evaluation process. Provides regular feedback and addresses performance concerns in a timely manner. Creates a system for staff recognition and appreciation.

Education and/or Experience

Must demonstrate aptitude for working with school-age children. Bachelor’s degree in related field; and 1 year (2080 hours) of experience working with children and 1 year (2080 hours) of supervisory experience. ~ OR ~ Bachelor’s degree in an unrelated field; and 2 years (4160 hours) of experience working with children and 1 year (2080 hours) of supervisory experience. ~ OR ~ Associate's Degree (60 college credits) / Child Development Associate Certificate (CDA), plus 24 credits in Areas of Training/Credit listed below (credits can be part of educational credential); and 4 years (8320 hours) of experience working with children and 1 year (2080 hours) of supervisory experience.~OR~ 10 years of full-time School Age Child Care experience in a leadership and supervisory role.

Certificates, Licenses and Registrations
  • First-aid/CPR and CPI certified upon hire within 90 days - provided free of charge by Adventures Plus.
Language Skills

Appropriate oral and written communication skills to work positively with school staff, Adventures Plus staff, families, and children. Responsible for confidential information regarding staff, families, and children.

Mathematical Skills

Counting and tracking students and maintaining ratios. Ensures effective management of site budget.

Reasoning Ability

Recognizes and responds appropriately to problem situations using good judgment, collecting appropriate information, analyzing the situation, and identifying a timely and appropriate solution.

Other Skills and Abilities

Effectively uses available technology, resources, and tools including Google and Microsoft Suites, job-specific information systems, and utilities.

Physical Factors include

Frequent: standing, walking, sitting, simple grasp, firm grasp, feeling, talking, hearing & visual accommodation; Occasional: lifting above shoulder, lifting waist to chest, lifting below the waist, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, squatting, crawling, twisting/pivot, reaching, and fine manipulating. Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds.

Work Environment

Adapt to the environment of the children. Busy, noisy, shared spaces such as the cafeteria and gym. Must be able to work indoors and outdoors, work a varied schedule, and travel to various locations for training, meetings, purchasing of supplies, and field trips.
