Job summary

Discovery Land Company is seeking a friendly Outdoor Pursuits team member for Driftwood Golf & Ranch Club near Austin, TX. You will assist members with water activities, safety, and experiences, while stocking and maintaining gear, and supporting events under SOPs.

Responsibilities include lifeguard duties, daily briefings, towels, equipment checks, and helping guests with activities. Flexible hours, weekends, and holidays required; CPR/first aid is a plus.

Qualifications

• Experience in guest services or hospitality.
• CPR certification is a plus.
• Boat captain license is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Be on safety cover and lifeguard duties for on-water activities.
• Stock, clean, and prepare for members' excursions and activities.
• Carry out weekly safety checks on the Powerboat fleet.
• Attend morning briefings and end-of-day shutdowns as scheduled.
• Support training and staff meetings; communicate with supervisors.

Job description

This role will be located at one of Discovery Land Company’s locations: Driftwood Golf & Ranch Club, set outside of Austin, Texas.

Key Responsibilities

• General
  • Follow the Outdoor pursuits StandardOperating procedure at all times.
  • Be on safety cover and lifeguard duties for on water activities.
  • Perform duties and tasks throughout the Club as assigned such as but not limited to stocking, cleaning and preparing for members excursions and activities.
  • Carry out weekly safety checks on the Powerboat fleet insuring that all boatsmeet SOP guidelines.
  • Attend the morning briefing.
  • Attend the end of day shut down-Adhering to the schedule set out by management.
  • Regularly attend, participate in and support training and staff meetings for Outdoor Pursuits-Communicate effectively with your supervisors and managers.
  • Be an ambassador of the property and DLC at all times on or off property.
  • Maintain adherence to and stay abreast to any changes of the Employee Handbook.
  • Need to be on time when starting a shift, prompt with each job assignment.
  • Stock Control: Help to implement monthly stock take/inventories of all parts and tools require for area as advised by OP Manager.

  • Greeting all members.
  • Participate in activities and games with members.
  • Facilitating sporting and special events.
  • Seating the members, moving chairs and umbrellas accordingly.
  • Supplying members with towels if necessary.
  • Keeping towels and suntan lotion stocked at stations
  • Helping members in and out of the water with water equipment-Insuring safety of members and children in and around the pools and beach.
  • Making bonfires.
  • Greeting and parking golf carts at Valet station.
  • Tending to members and guests utilizing Outdoor Pursuits areas, ensuring and maximizing their safetyand enjoyment at all times.
  • Assisting members and guests in all activities.

Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience in the guest service industry
• CPR certification is a positive-Boat captains license a plus
• Certificates/qualifications preferred.
• Experience in hospitality is preferred but not required-Ability to work flexible hours and on the weekends.

• Positive attitude, professional demeanor, and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to deliver service to members, guests, and team members.
• Must be able to work flexible work hours/schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Long hours may be required due to business demands.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Ability to stay calm and focused during the busiest of times.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English; additional languages preferred.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to, working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, standing, walking, and moving for periods of greater than eight (8) hours, and lifting and carrying items sometimes greater than fifty (50) pounds.
