Job description

Supervises two (2) or more day camp adult and volunteer workers in various activities for youth. Also coordinates camp activities, schedules, supplies, and transportation.

  1. Responsible for ordering arts & crafts and various sports supplies.
  2. Coordinates all expenditures, budget framework, and proposed budget allotment through the Program Coordinator (not directly responsible for budget).
  3. Plans, organizes, coordinates, and supervises the Adventure Camp program.
  4. Responsible for collecting adventure camp fees.
  5. Plans pre-camp workshop with all staff.
  6. Coordinates safety and first aid with all employees and volunteers.
  7. Responsible for safety and well-being of all children at day camp.
  8. Performs other duties as assigned.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Must be at least 18 years of age.
  2. Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification and First Aid training is preferred.
  3. Must have a valid Texas driver's license and driving record must be in compliance with Town policy.
***MUST DRIVE A 15 PASSENGER VAN.***EDUCATION:
  1. An Associate's Degree, Bachelor's Degree, or equivalent majoring in Education, Physical Education, or Recreation is preferred.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
  1. Experience in working with children 11-14 years of age, summer camp, day care, church camp, public recreation, and/or outdoor activities is required.
Must be able to work:

Camp Dates: May 27 - August 8
Monday - Friday
40 hour work week.

Must submit to and pass a post-offer, non-regulated drug test and thorough background checks (including criminal history).

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:
  1. Must have knowledge of sports activities (softball, basketball, volleyball, soccer, tennis), arts and crafts, environmental sciences, cultural arts, etc.
  2. Must have skills in organizing children, supervision of 3-5 staff workers, discipline, and creating a positive camp environment.
  3. Must have organization skills, arts, and crafts techniques.
  4. Must have the ability to work with children 11-14 years of age, teenage, and adult volunteers; inform parents of activities; and deal with the public.
  5. Must have mathematical and decision-making abilities.
PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

The physical abilities described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  1. Must be able to see, hear, read, speak, and write.
  2. Must be able to work in an outdoor setting exposed to heat, dust, wind, insects, noxious plants, and snakes; to lift loaded ice chests and items weighing up to 50 lbs.; stoop, walk, bend, run, throw, climb, and swim; and participate in various sports and recreational activities.
