Description

What you'll do

• Work in full costume to entertain Aquarium, guests of all ages, during shows and meet-and-greet experiences.


• Deliver fun and entertaining performances during scripted shows and improvisational interactions with guests during daily activities and games.


• Maintain show quality standards, which excite and impress guests, as well as cleanliness, crowd control, and guest safety in all show venues.


• Perform scheduled shows and character performances.


• Complete daily program reports.


• Maintain character costume, including cleaning and daily maintenance in accordance with provided guidelines.


• Escort costume characters during shows and/or meet & greet experiences and assist costume characters with dressing and undressing as needed.


• Adhere to given dialogue and communication, always maintaining show and character integrity.


• Assist the Guest Experience department with other interpretative duties.


• Arrive on time and ready to work all scheduled shifts, in accordance with aquarium uniform and appearance standards.


• Maintain knowledge of activities, aquatic life, and Adventure Aquarium special events/promotions in order to properly notify and inform guests.


• Take direction from and work with Husbandry team in certain daily husbandry duties and other duties assigned throughout the Guest Experience operation. Confidently handle animals in compliance with Husbandry SOPs and AZA standards and safety regulations.


• Must be able to memorize and present tour, educational or entertainment scripts in a clear and pleasant manner, keeping it light, fun and engaging for every guest.


• Facilitate touch exhibit experiences, ensuring the safety of our guests and animals while delivering fun facts and instructions.


• Participate in Aquarium related education, public relations and guest programs including facility tours and after-hours events.


• Set up and breakdown equipment, exhibits and activities. Ensure touch exhibits operate smoothly, including monitoring animal and guest safety throughout the day.

This role requires wearing a 15lb, large body costume, head, and feet, working in heat, direct sunlight, cold, humidity, and temperature change for up to 45-minute intervals (up to 6 hrs./shift), and the ability to perform specific choreographed movements.
