What You'll Do

As the Advancement Associate, you will play an essential role in supporting the day-to-day operations and strategic initiatives of the Cancer Programs team by:

Supporting Fundraising Success
  • Coordinate calendars, meetings, and travel arrangements for frontline fundraising professionals and faculty partners.
  • Prepare meeting agendas, donor briefings, reports, and presentation materials.
  • Assist with donor stewardship activities, follow-up communications, acknowledgments, and correspondence.
  • Support fundraising events, meetings, and donor engagement activities.
  • Process expense reports, reimbursements, and other administrative tasks that keep our team operating efficiently.
Managing and Maintaining Critical Data
  • Enter and maintain donor, prospect, and fundraising information within Advancement CRM systems.
  • Track fundraising activity, proposals, contact reports, and prospect engagement.
  • Ensure confidential information is handled with the highest level of care and full HIPAA compliance.
Enhancing Grateful Patient Philanthropy
  • Help identify and coordinate outreach to grateful patient prospects.
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration among fundraising colleagues and internal partners.
  • Assist with donor mailings, communications, fundraising campaigns, and stewardship initiatives.
  • Support the development of meaningful donor experiences that help advance UVA's mission.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of two years of related administrative, operational, or project support experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • More than two years of related experience.
  • Experience with Salesforce CRM, Workday, or similar systems.
  • Experience working in a healthcare, medical, or HIPAA-regulated environment.
  • Experience supporting fundraising, nonprofit, higher education, or healthcare organizations.
Physical Demands

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.

Salary Range
  • The anticipated hiring range is $21.63 - $24.03/hr ($45,000-$50,000), commensurate with education and experience.
Position Type & Work Location
  • This is a non-exempt-level, benefited position. Learn more about UVA benefits.
  • This is a restricted position, which is dependent on funding and is contingent upon funding availability.
  • UVA External Relations offers a flexible and hybrid workplace. All team members must have access to and maintain a secure home office environment with high-speed internet service and be able to work collaboratively with others using a variety of technologies and tools. Depending on the type of position and work performed, or as deemed by the manager, some positions may be required to work intermittently in our shared office space located in Charlottesville, Virginia. This hybrid position can be worked remotely, although frequent in-person work in our office building, on UVA Grounds, or at event venues is required. The successful candidate will live within driving distance of Charlottesville, Virginia.
