Job summary

State of South Carolina is seeking a skilled automotive mechanic to perform maintenance on engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical systems in trucks and equipment. The role includes diagnosing electrical/hydraulic issues, welding for repairs, and conducting field service calls.

Applicants must have relevant experience, a valid driver's license, and work toward a Class A CDL within six months. Responsibilities also include maintaining shop safety and cleanliness, handling hazardous waste

Qualifications

1.5 years of work experience directly related to automotive/repair work.
High school automotive tech coursework may substitute for six months of related experience.
Must have a valid driver's license; CDL-A must be obtained within six months of placement.

Responsibilities

Perform skilled mechanical repairs and maintenance on motors, transmissions, brakes, cooling and electrical systems on vehicles and equipment.
Diagnose and repair electrical and hydraulic systems to ensure safe operation of trucks and equipment.
Perform welding (electrical and acetylene) to repair or modify parts.
Conduct field service calls and maintain shop safety and cleanliness in the automotive shop.
